FIRST UNI PROJECT

For my first University Project I was assigned to create a small scale building which could be used as a place of relaxation where people can sit, stand or lie down and the main feature of the project was the experimentation of light and how light can be funnelled in to the space throughout the day. for this design I created 2 equal slits on both the east and west wall in the seating area, with a divider in front of the window which directs the light down to the sides of the wall, to illuminate the seating space. I kept the rest of the space dark so its possible to step back into the dark spaces to lie down or stand and sit on the floor. the second part of the building is an octagonal tower which is designed to be dark with the only light seeping through an open skylight at the top of the tower. this is where I integrated the lying down space , where people can lie down and look at the sky. I used SketchUp to get a perfectly scaled model of my idea and then exported it to Blender to render the light and shadows, to show off the concept of the light and spatiality as well as the scale of the building.
